Stephen Patterson, noted in the previous post, and Craig Evans engaged in debate on the Gospel of Thomas at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary here in Kansas City on Friday evening, March 13. Evans finds little or no early or authentic material in the gospel, while Patterson is open to new insights into the life of Jesus through the study of Thomas.
